Mother May I have another plant?

Mother’s Day is almost here and it is definitely a good time to start planning celebrations for all the special ladies in our lives. We have spent a lot of time this spring thinking through ways that we can cultivate a great community space. As we edge into into summer this thinking has created a full calendar of food, plants, and cheer in mind for May — including a few great ways to celebrate Mom.

So, without further ado, and before the kids get out of school, may I recommend you take a mini May vacation in Milton and enjoy some early summer fun. The first full weekend of May will include the official launch of the Milton 66 Farmer's Market, Cinco de Mayo, Derby Day, a fundraiser for the Thomas Day House, and the "rain date" opening celebration of the Milton Heritage Greenway & Walking Trail.

This month we will be opening our Garden Center which will feature a "Plant Bar". The plant bar provides you with everything you need to plant the perfect pot. The plant bar is a great activity for a family day out, groups of friends, and plant enthusiasts alike. Here is how it works:

  1. Pick a pot

  2. Select your plants

  3. Head to the Plant Bar

  4. Use complimentary soil to pot your plants

  5. Use complimentary soil cover (pebbles, moss, other pretty items) to help retain moisture

  6. Rinse (water!) and repeat

  7. At checkout, your total price will be the combined price of plants and pots used in your creation

There is a growing list of great activities to enjoy in Milton. Beyond the Plant Bar, great drinks, and weekend food trucks at the Milton 66, Milton will be welcoming three new restaurants this year. Folks can also enjoy a stroll on the new (and pleasantly shaded) Milton Heritage Greenway & Walking Trail (which has one entrance right beside the Milton 66). Before or after the trail take a walk around the historic town and enjoy “a museum without walls”.

Check out our calendar of events for more details on all of these events and be sure to celebrate Mom by pairing a wine slushy with an herb container pot workshop on May 13th.
